Pop Chinn Stew. That's what Ken called his circumstantial evidence case he tried in 1983 as a young Deputy DA. I listened as he painted a wonderful word picture of his father putting together various ingredients to make a delicious pot of stew. It's been 30 years but that image of his father making the stew hasn't left my mind. In honor of Ken's dad, Vernon Chinn, we want to make some Chinn Stew of our own. Stop by from time to time and enjoy some Chinn Stew as we share some of our family happenings.

Departure and Arrival

Getting ready to load 10 suitcases, 5 "carry on" and 2 boxes of books.

                                           LA International Airport

                                                                         Waiting to board.

Robert got the window seat.  Even five seats over mom could hear Robert howl with laughter                            watching the Three Stooges!

At Inchon Intl Airport.  Waiting for our luggage.

A bit blurry shot of Mark and Elysabeth awaiting our arrival, then lots of hugs!

Heading to baggage delivery service.  15 of our 17 bags were sent to Pohang (6 hours away) for about $120.  It greatly simplified our travel two days later to the university.  We arrived in Pohang on Sunday.  The bags were delivered to our door on Monday.  Nothing short of great!

Mark and Elysabeth's home in Seoul.  A very charming apartment in the heart of Itaewon.  It's very close to Mark's work, their church and social life.  Photos below of our apartment at Handong Faculty Housing.

              View from the living room.

                                             View from the front door.

Handong Global University is a beautiful campus on a 200 acre lot surrounded with lush green trees and plants. It reminds me very much of my college days in Cleveland, Tennessee.  Everywhere I look, I see green mountains, green hills, green rice fields, green meadows, green plant life.  Life is serene and peaceful.  I am so grateful to be part of this life!

  1. WOW - Susan and Ken what an experience!! I love the area shots, great area for hiking etc. Have the kids adjusted to IKEA living yet? It is all so small and efficient. Keep us posted, tommorrow is open house at Zion and school starts on Monday. Back to the routine, hope you have a great time, learning and re-experiencing your country. I wish I could take the kids to Germany and spent a year there. All our best!!
